Gallery of Trip
Zichron Yaakov is one of the first ‘modern’ settlements in Israel founded by members of the "First Aliyah", pioneers who came to realize their dream of settling the Biblical homeland of the Jewish people - the historic Land of Israel. Follow the dramatic and incredible tales of some of the founding fathers of Zionism.

Activities:

  • Begin the day in the beautiful gardens of Ramat Hanadiv.

  • Ramat HaNadiv - Ramat Hanadiv combines formal gardens, an extensive nature reserve presenting the native plants and wildlife of the Carmel, and an eco-friendly visitors’ center for environmental education. The gardens are named after Baron Edmund James de Rothchild (1845-1934), who was a major and pivotal supporter of the Zionist movement in its early years ("Hanadiv" - the generous, the philanthropist). Around the park are different hiking trails and easy walking paths, some archeological relics, and in its center - the burial ground of Baron de Rothschild and his wife, Ada.

  • Continue to the town of Zichron Yaakov.

  • Zichron Yaakov - Established in December of 1882, Zichron Ya'akov was one of the first modern Jewish communities in the country. Due to the massive support of Baron de Rothchild, the town was soon named after Rothchild's father (Zichron Yaakov - "in memory of Jacob") and became known for its fine wine cellars, which produce high-quality vintages to this day. The town is also famous as the center of the NILI spy ring, organized by Jews to aid the British in ousting the Turks at the beginning of the 20th century. Tour the town to learn its history and enjoy its charming, shop-lined streets.

  • Time for lunch on your own- pick up something on the street or sit down at one of the many restaurants.

  • First Aliya Museum - "Aliyah" is a term used in Hebrew to describe the immigration of Jews back to their historic homeland - Israel. It literally means "ascension" - to emphasize not only the physical journey but more so the spiritual one. First Aliyah - was the first wave of Jewish immigration to the land of Israel, mainly from East Europe, in the late 19th century. While many of the peers were searching for a brighter future in America, a small number of idealists chose to come to the fairly neglected Ottoman Palestine, to reassert Jewish presence in the land and build a foundation for the future Jewish state.
The First Aliyah museum is located in a building that was built by Baron de Rothschild’s staff in 1892. Known at the time as the Administration House, when built, it was the largest and most magnificent building in Israel. The museum tells the story of members of the First Aliyah through examples of several families.

  • Aaronson House Museum- optional - During the First World War, Zichron Ya'akov was used a center for underground activity by NILI, the first Hebrew secret organization led by siblings Aaron and Sarah Aaronson. NILI is an acronym for the Hebrew phrase “Netzah Yisrael Lo Yeshaker,” meaning The Eternal One of Israel will not lie (Samuel I 15:29), which served as its password. The organization's headquarters was the family home and is now a museum where you can learn about the underground members' activities, how they were caught and their ultimate fates.

  • Somek Winery - Visit Somek Winery in Zichron for a wine tasting. Somek is a small family winery using only grapes grown in the family’s vineyards and featuring several local varieties of grapes.

  • Or Kosher Winery in the area

  • Bat Shlomo Winery - Taste wine and hear the incredible story of the Bat Shlomo Winery and settlement, founded by Baron Edmund de Rothschild.

v
The rules regarding COVID-19 are fluid and change often, based on what is happening around the globe. We will continue to update you regarding current guidelines. Currently, the State of Israel does not require one to present a COVID-19 vaccination or recovery certificate, or a negative test result in order to enter or leave the country. It is advised that you check with your airline to confirm their requirements, as they may differ. As of October 9, it is no longer required to complete an entry form to enter Israel. • Health Insurance It is a condition of your booking through Via Sabra / Israel4All, as well as the State of Israel, that you obtain travel health insurance which includes coverage for COVID-19. Please note that you may be denied boarding of your flight to Israel if you cannot show proof of this when you check in for your flight.

What's the weather like in Israel?

v
In Israel, the northern and coastal areas enjoy a Mediterranean climate, meaning summers are hot and dry, while winters are cool and rainy. Down south and in the east, it's much drier. Rainfall usually comes between October and early May, with the most rain falling from December to February. It is always best to check the weather forecast beforehand. Spring (late March – May): Daytime temperatures are generally very pleasant - around 65-70°F, though it can still be hot in some areas (such as the Dead Sea and Eilat). There is a slight chance of rain, but it doesn't happen often. It can be cooler in the evenings in the North and Jerusalem - approximately 45°F. Summer (late May - late September): Temperatures are usually in the high 80s-90s. At this time of year, humidity will be highest in Tel Aviv and Tiberias. Other areas such as Jerusalem are drier and cooler, particularly at night. The desert, Masada and Eilat are extremely hot, but dry. It will almost never rain in the summer in Israel! Fall (late September – November): Same as Spring, but the rain can begin towards the end of the season. Winter (December - early March): Winter can be mild and sunny, or severe and overcast. There's often heavy rain and, in January and February, even snow at times! Temperatures will be in the 50s-60s most places, but in the 40s in Jerusalem and the Galilee hills, and cold at night. Pack layers and be prepared for anything! Weekly weather forecast

Testimonials
“This was my first time to Israel and it was truly an incredible way to experience everything this beautiful place has to offer. We focused mostly on culinary tours in markets, and our tour guide Orit know everything and was so organized getting us from place to place so we wouldn't miss anything. She even was able to make adjustments on the spot when things didn't go exactly as planned, and the whole trip felt very smooth for us- we didn't have to worry about anything! We also somehow managed to eat 3 dinners a night, there is no shortage of delicious food to taste. We learned so much from our guide and she had the best advice for where to explore in our free time. I would 100% recommend this experience to anyone who wants to get off the beaten path and experience the cultures in a whole new way. Can't wait to come back! ”
