Great Culinary Day Tour in Galilee
Have been to Israel many times, and being foodies the Culinary Day Tour in Galilee looked just up our alley, and it certainly delivered.
We spent a wonderful day with Vadim, a very knowledge and fun guide who loves food too like us. First, a few hours of culinary delights and tasting local delicacies in Akko (or Acre). We learned a lot about the history of the area and got some good insights into local food purveyors you will rarely find elsewhere, like the spice shop that's been in the same family since the Ottoman Empire times, or the local sweets seller who brings his treats on a cart from his home each morning. Akko is an intriguing port city with an immense multicultural history, and the local food shows it.
Then we were off to Sallama, a Bedouin village midway between Akko and the Sea of Galilee. There we spent a truly memorable evening with a very hospitable Bedouin family, learning about their history (from the desert to a modern village), and then cooked and ate delicious meal with the family (way too much food, but was simply delightful). Unfortunately didn't get to spend any time in their tent because weather conditions weren't favorable but we got a nice invitation to return (and we certainly will)
Overall a memorable day filled with great food, good company and wonderful experiences. Will definitely repeat.
Also, Jenny at Via Sabra was great to work with. We booked our experience very last minute during our Israel trip in December, and Jenny made everything so easy and smooth for everyone. Highly recommended.
