South Tel Aviv is home to many social businesses that give us an opportunity to explore how Israel and Tel Aviv in particular turns its "Start-up" mentality into social consciousness.

Activities:

  • Graffiti Tour - Begin in Florentin where social graffiti expresses contemporary social issues in both loud and subtle ways. Walk through amazing pieces of art that reflect the issues our country is facing today.

  • You will have a break for lunch in Florentine or have an option to eat at Tenat Ethiopian Kosher restaurant

  • Kite Pride - KitePride creates functional bags from used high quality upcycled fabrics in order to provide jobs to women and men exiting human trafficking and prostitution. FAQ

Can I use my cell phone in Israel?

v
Yes. You can use your cellphone in Israel if it is unlocked, or if you have roaming services on. Your mobile carrier should be able to unlock your smartphone for you. It is possible to purchase a pre-paid SIM card including data, text message, calls in Israel and a US/Canadian number for people back home to contact you.  Alternatively, your carrier may offer international services for a daily or monthly fee. Please make sure to check the rates for international cellular usage before your trip so you don’t incur any unnecessary charges.

What's the weather like in Israel?

v
In Israel, the northern and coastal areas enjoy a Mediterranean climate, meaning summers are hot and dry, while winters are cool and rainy. Down south and in the east, it's much drier. Rainfall usually comes between October and early May, with the most rain falling from December to February. It is always best to check the weather forecast beforehand. Spring (late March – May): Daytime temperatures are generally very pleasant - around 65-70°F, though it can still be hot in some areas (such as the Dead Sea and Eilat). There is a slight chance of rain, but it doesn't happen often. It can be cooler in the evenings in the North and Jerusalem - approximately 45°F. Summer (late May - late September): Temperatures are usually in the high 80s-90s. At this time of year, humidity will be highest in Tel Aviv and Tiberias. Other areas such as Jerusalem are drier and cooler, particularly at night. The desert, Masada and Eilat are extremely hot, but dry. It will almost never rain in the summer in Israel! Fall (late September – November): Same as Spring, but the rain can begin towards the end of the season. Winter (December - early March): Winter can be mild and sunny, or severe and overcast. There's often heavy rain and, in January and February, even snow at times! Temperatures will be in the 50s-60s most places, but in the 40s in Jerusalem and the Galilee hills, and cold at night. Pack layers and be prepared for anything! Weekly weather forecast

Testimonials
“In late August our family; grandparents, parents and children, spent two wonderful weeks in Israel with arrangements made by Via Sabra. The demographics of our family group was quite diverse with children ages 7-13, adults and seniors; many being ‘first time’ Israel visitors. Janet and Miar from Via Sabra worked closely with us to plan a wonderful itinerary which took into account the full range of ages in our group. With their assistance, we planned an itinerary in which some days were packed with exciting adventures and exploration while others were more relaxed as we took a step back to catch our breath. The balance was perfect. We had a private bus with our own guide Ronen, who could not have been more knowledgeable, friendly and fun. He connected with everyone in our group, from the oldest to the youngest; and quickly felt like a member of the family. It was a very sad parting when our trip came to an end. We have friends who also planned a family Israel trip with only glowing compliments for Via Sabra. We all agreed we must and will return and would certainly use Via Sabra again!”
