Gallery of Trip
Viticulture was always a central part of agriculture in the Middle East. The first vineyard in the history of mankind is attributed to Noah: "And Noah began to be an husbandman, and he planted a vineyard. And he drank of the wine, and was drunken..." (Genesis 9:20-21). Winegrowing was so widespread that the Fruit of the Vine was listed in the book of Deuteronomy as one of the Seven Species the Land of Israel (Deut 8:8). In almost every archeological site from pre-biblical time to the late Byzantine period - ancient wine press can be found. Under Muslim rule winemaking was limited (7-20th century AD, with a short revival during the Crusaders era on the 11-12th century AD). Modern Israeli wine industry was established by Baron Edmond de Rothchild, who supported the early Zionists in the 1880's, and founded the Carmel Winery - first of many in modern Israel.
Today Israeli wine is world-renowned with a highly efficient operation and the small, independent wineries retain a romantic, pioneering spirit.

Activities:

  • Dalton Winery - A small boutique winery located in the Upper Galilee of Israel that produces quality kosher wines such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay.

  • Kishor Winery - Wine Tasting at Kishor Winery located in Kishorit, a village for adults with special needs. The members of the community enjoy a full life, including meaningful employment. In conjunction with the professional staff, the members take an active part in the grape cultivation, bottling, and marketing of the wines. The Visitors’ Center also employs Kishorit members who host guests, interact with members of the general community, and give guided tours.

  • Jezre’el Valley Winery - In a land of some 300 boutique wineries, it took a high-tech entrepreneur, an organic landscape architect and a branding designer to come up with a new concept for their wine venture. Meet with Jacob Ner David a successful serial entrepreneur in technology based start-ups who made a dream come true and continues to infuse out-of-the box thinking into the DNA of the winery.
