The New Gate and tour Musrara Neighborhood - A hidden gem off the beaten path in Jerusalem's center, near the Old City. The serene nineteenth century homes and prevalence of art galleries and artists belie the turbulent history of the neighborhood, which was once located "on the seam" between Israeli and Jordanian-occupied Jerusalem. It was here where, in the 1970s, the Black Panthers roared for social justice. In the 1980s renewal, gentrification, and ultra-orthodoxy began and now, Musrara is in high demand.
Visit in the Jerusalem print workshop. -
Multicultural tour and tastings in the Old City - Tour Jerusalem’s Old City and meet the people and places that make this place so unique. In the Christian Quarter, visit the Church of the Holy Sepulcher, and visit one of the holiest Muslim sites, Haram Al Sharif, and where the Jewish Temples stood on the Temple Mount (if conditions permit). Browse in the famous Arab shuk (market) in the Muslim Quarter. Enjoy tastings along the tour, with excellent hummus and sweets, the many stalls selling spices, pastries, Armenian pottery, embroidered clothes, and so much more. Meet store owners whose stores have been in their family for generations. Throughout the tour explore the complexity of a city that is holy to Judaism, Christianity, and Islam.
-
The National Library of Israel - Founded in Jerusalem in 1892, the National Library of Israel (NLI) holds the collective memory of Israelis of all backgrounds and faiths and the Jewish people worldwide. While continuing to serve as Israel's preeminent research library, over the past decade NLI has embarked upon an ambitious journey of renewal to encourage diverse audiences in Israel and around the globe to engage with its treasures in new and meaningful ways. This transformative renewal is taking place through a range of innovative educational, cultural, and digital initiatives, as well as through the construction of a new landmark campus, on schedule to open its doors in 2023.
-
